A judge this week denied Donald Trump's lawyer's request to dismiss a defamation lawsuit brought against him years ago by reporter E. Jean Carroll. Carroll claims that Trump assaulted her in a department store fitting room in the 1990's, and Trump responded (while president) that she was "too ugly" for him to assault. The Justice Department is representing Trump in this matter, even though he is no longer President, but the case could have a massive impact on Trump's legacy if Carroll prevails, and Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why.

Donald Trump suffered a major legal setback this week when yet another court ruled that he cannot weasel his way out of the lawsuit, the defamation lawsuit brought by a reporter E. Jean Carroll. Now the E. Jean Carroll lawsuit is one that I have talked about a lot and I've mentioned that this might be the biggest legal action that the former president is facing. Now he is currently facing, by the way, more than 20 different lawsuits, not including the investigations in New York and Georgia. But this one, this E. Jean Carroll lawsuit, this has the potential to end his career because in order to prove her case that Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in a department store fitting room in the 1990s, she is asking for a DNA sample from Donald Trump because she still has the outfit with the DNA of the attacker. So she wants Donald Trump's DNA as part of this lawsuit to prove that he was lying when he said she was too ugly for him to sexually assault.

And if she gets that DNA and it matches what's on the outfit, uh, that's pretty much conclusive proof that he's the one who did it, which means this defamation lawsuit, a simple defamation lawsuit might prove that the former president raped somebody in public in the 1990s. So yes, that is why this particular lawsuit is such a big one and most likely why Donald Trump has been fighting this one the hardest. Now the problem that E. Jean Carroll has here is that the United States Department of Justice is going to be representing Donald Trump in this matter. So you basically have the full weight of the US government fighting against you. And yes, folks, Merrick Garland Biden's attorney general has said we are going to represent Donald Trump in this matter because former attorney general Bill Barr said that Trump made the statements about E. Jean Carroll being too ugly for him in his official capacity as president. That was actually part of their legal argument. That's how they were able to get it pushed back for so long saying, oh, well, no, no, no, no. He said she was ugly as an official presidential proclamation and therefore you cannot go after him until he's not in office anymore.

And the courts apparently bought that, which means the US Department of Justice actually has to continue to represent Donald Trump in the matter. Now here's my advice to the DOJ. You can handle this as the lawyers anyway you want. So the best advice I can give you is, uh, maybe put some of the new guys on it. You know, some of the fresh out of law school just passed the bar the other day, the newbies, the greenhorns, go ahead and put them on this case, right. You don't need to waste the time of your top talent at the DOJ to go and defend this lawsuit on behalf of Donald Trump. You don't owe him anything. You're in a position that you didn't want to be in, in the first place, but it's up to you on how you handle it. You can pass this, you can assign whatever lawyer in your agency you want to, to it. So again, maybe go out, find some folks fresh out of law school and say, hey, congrats kid go represent the former president and, uh, see if you can prove he didn't rape somebody. It's a pretty big task. Trump In Serious Trouble As Judge Allows E. Jean Carroll's Lawsuit To Proceed
