Timelapse Captures Enormous Moon Rising Above Rhode Island

An enormous waxing gibbous moon rose above Rhode Island on Tuesday, October 19.

This timelapse by Mike Cohea captured the moonrise from Jamestown.

October’s “Hunter’s Moon” will rise on Wednesday, according to NASA.

“As the full Moon after the Harvest Moon, this will be the Hunter’s Moon,” NASA wrote. "The earliest use of the term “Hunter’s Moon” cited in the Oxford English Dictionary is from 1710. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, with the leaves falling and the deer fattened, it is time to hunt."
