Chairman of the Māngere-Otāhuhu Local Board Tauan'u Nick Bakulich was critical of Auckland Council's decision to place the South Auckland evacuation centre at Randwick Park, "the intel was telling us the impact was here in Māngere."

"Why they chose Randwick Park which is 20km away? They need to review why they chose that space."
